1. A guided tour around Dubai to identify and realize real-life challenges, on-campus workshops and brainstorming sessions, to elucidate key global challenges using the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) framework.

2. Mind-mapping the challenges

3. Identify the relevant problems that are important from the perspective of societal and business impact; primary research through innovative modes of communication; secondary research, building a value proposition, target market/consumer segmentation

4. Brainstorm on possible solutions and reach convergence towards those that are commercially feasible: brainstorming feasibility analysis; costing and pricing models

5. Developing a prototype: as a piece of art/craft/content/website/app/etc.; minimum viable product-MVP

6. Develop a revenue model and conduct sensitivity analysis to incorporate risk and uncertainty

Finance for Budding Entrepreneurs and Managers

Finance is an essential discipline that influences how individuals, businesses, and societies allocate their resources. For young budding entrepreneurs and future managers, understanding finance facilitates effective decision-making, risk assessment, and long-term planning. This study introduces foundational concepts including financial planning, cost management, budgeting, saving, and investment. Learners explore how businesses generate revenue, incur expenses, and create profit. The workshop further introduces the basic elements of financial statements and the role of cash in sustaining operations. The approach emphasizes clarity, logic, and practical application rather than technical complexity. In this workshop through exposure to realistic business examples and scenarios, students can build critical thinking skills and develop the ability to evaluate opportunities, plan resources, and pursue entrepreneurial ideas with greater confidence.

Eco-Mold: The Bioplastic Revolution

What if plastic didn't have to harm the planet?

In Eco-Mold, students become green chemical engineers for a day — exploring how everyday kitchen ingredients can be transformed into earth-friendly plastics. Using the science of polymerization, they'll create a flexible, moldable material that mimics commercial plastic but biodegrades naturally.

Participants mix, heat, and mold a bio-polymer gel made from renewable, non-toxic resources. Within minutes, they witness a chemical transformation a liquid blend turning into a solid film. The process highlights how natural starch, plant-based softeners, and mild acids can unite to form a completely biodegradable plastic alternative.

Once cooled and dried, each student's bioplastic creation becomes a tangible symbol of sustainable chemistry-ready to cut, shape, or even design into creative prototypes.

To close the session, teams pitch their own eco-product ideas using the bioplastics they just made.

3D Printing Unlocked!

This Workshop offers students an engaging introduction to the evolving world of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology. The session begins with a comparison between subtractive and additive manufacturing, helping participants understand the fundamental differences in process, material usage, and design freedom. Students are then introduced to key additive manufacturing techniques, including SLA, DLP, FDM, and SLS. The workshop highlights how additive manufacturing has evolved from being solely a rapid prototyping tool to becoming a critical component of mainstream production, particularly within the aerospace industry, where lightweight, complex, and high-performance components are now manufactured at scale using AM technologies. In the hands-on segment, participants will generate a CAD model and prepare it for 3D printing through pre- and post-processing steps, gaining practical insight into the digital workflow that drives modern fabrication. By the end of the workshop, students will have a comprehensive understanding of both the technical foundations and the transformative industrial impact of additive manufacturing, empowering them to explore innovative possibilities in design and engineering - one layer at a time!

Activity :- Concept Briefing (20 min)

Description

Brief introduction to Civil and Architectural Engineering: what these professionals do, their real-world impact, and examples of iconic structures. Explain few basic structural principles such as balance, load distribution, base width, and centre of gravity and basic design compositions using Visual aids or simple examples.

Activity :- Main Activity: Tallest Paper Tower Challenge (50 min)

Description

Participants form small teams and build the tallest free-standing tower using only newspapers and masking tape. Clear instructions and rules will be explained during the workshop. Towers will be evaluated after completion based on height, stability, and creativity.

Activity :- Wrap-up & Reflection (20 min)

Description

Discussion on what design approaches worked best, challenges faced, and connections to real-world engineering and architecture. Winning teams will be announced and recognized.
